Andritz to deliver circulating fluidized bed boiler for biomass power plant in Japan

International technology group Andritz has secured a contract from Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (MES) to deliver circulating fluidized bed boiler for the new biomass power plant in Japan.

Andritz will supply a PowerFluid circulating fluidized bed boiler with flue gas cleaning system for the new biomass power project to be developed at MES shipyard in Ichihara of the Chiba Prefecture, which is around 30 km to the east of Tokyo.

The project is expected to be operational in the third quarter of 2020.

The scope of the contract includes the engineering work, delivery, erection work, and start-up of the fluidized bed boiler, comprising of flue gas cleaning system with high-dust SCR and auxiliary equipment.

Andritz’s equipment and technologies are crucial for a high-efficiency biomass power plant, which will supply green energy to the national grid.

Fired with palm kernel shells and wood pellets, the facility will hold capacity to generate 50MW of electricity that can be distributed to around 100,000 households in the region.

Andritz supplies boiler technologies and systems for generating steam and electricity from renewable and fossil fuels.

The company also supplies plants, equipment, and services for hydropower stations, pulp and paper industry, metalworking and steel industries.

It also offers services for solid/liquid separation in the municipal and industrial sectors, as well as for animal feed and biomass pelleting.
