Successful Track Records for Seawater Flue Gas Desulfurization (SWFGD) Plants

Published 16 November 2016 | By TSUKISHIMA KIKAI (TSK)

Tsukishima Kikai Co., Ltd. (TSK) provided its Sea Water Flue Gas Desulfurization (SWFGD) facility for a Coal Fired Power Plant (350MW x 2) constructed in Morocco in 2014, which has since been enjoying operational stability.

Owing to this successful track record TSK received positive feedback from its client, and booked an additional SWFGD order in Morocco for more Coal Fired Power Plants (693MW x 2). They are now under construction, and the commercial operation date is scheduled for 2018.

SWFGD's advantages over other flue gas desulfurization plants is that it needs less investment for its facilities, and that it does not generate by-products. Also, SWFGD is less of an environmental burden because it does not discharge waste. Sea water after desulfurization is treated with aeration and returns into the sea directly.

SWFGD, the latest gas desulfurization technology, is expected to experience positive adoption in many countries and areas, as well as rising countries in Asia, the Middle East, South America, and North Africa where electric power is in high demand.

TSK is now making a number of bids for other SWFGD projects in mainly rising nations.

TSK willingly promotes various types of equipment and systems in an electrical field in order to contribute to environmental conservation.
